How many combinations of numbers are there?

Its a lotto simulation. There are 40 numbers (1 - 40) and you can choose any 6 numbers. You can only choose each number once. So how many number combinations are there?How many combinations of numbers are there?
40! / (6! * 34!) = 3838380 combinations

you're all incorrect ... the formula for the combination is on this page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combination

The question explicitly states ';combination'; not permutationHow many combinations of numbers are there?
';You can use the same number once in a number combination. You can use the same number in a different number combination.';

Okay then in that case it would be this...

40 * 39 * 38 * 37 * 36 * 35 = 2 763 633 600 combinations

If you could use the same number twice but you can't have two combinations in the same order then it'd be hard to figure out...
40 choose 6 is

40 * 39 * 38 * 37 * 36 * 35

= 2763633600
if u have a scientific calculator then punch these figures u will get the answer

40C6
= 40 * 39 * 38 * 37 * 36 * 35

= 2,763,633,600

Answer: 2,763,633,600 or 2 billion seven hundred sixty-three million six hundred thirty-three thousand six hundred number combinations.
40*39*38*37*36*35 = 2763633600
