The 2 numbers are 222.75 and 89.8.If I have 2 numbers how do I find the the differences as a percentage?
Well to find the percentage difference the formula is
PERENTAGE DIFFERENCE/ORIGNAL NUMBER
so you do 222.75-89.8 = 132.95
then your original number is 222.75, so you do
132.95/222.75 = 0.596.....
then to make it as a percentage you multiply it by 100....
So the answer is 59.6% or you can round it up to 60%
Hope this helps! If I have 2 numbers how do I find the the differences as a percentage?
b beru had a good question and that's ';is one a fraciton of the other?';. the answer being no, they are both in decimal form which is already a percentage. you can simply subract but i'll provide the theory below .
Eugene had it when he said
N1-N2
-------- * 100%
Theory
. these number need to be put into like fractions or percentages that are equivellant so that we know what the base is in order to find out the percentage. as these are just arbitrary numbers at given. So find a common denominator.
It's been quite some time since i did this type of math so i'll just use a link you can follow this link to convert decimals into fractions http://www.webmath.com/dec2fract.html
222 and 3/4 and 98 and 4/5
lowest common denominator will be 20 so convert those then subtract.
now go here to find out how to add-subtract unlinke fractions; http://www.homeschoolmath.net/teaching/f鈥?/a>
891/4 X 5 = 4455/20 and 494/5 X 4 = 1976/20
so subtract one from the other and you get 2479/20, in decimal form is
123.95 now times by a hundred and you get 12395 %
(i know it's confusing to have a number higher than 100% but you can have increases of greater than that. example: if you usually sell 100 dollars a day, and friday you sell 200 dollars, your increase of sales has grown and is now 200 % of what it normally is.
12395 %
hope this helps
(note: this is for the more accurrate quesiton, if the origional number was 89.8 then the answer would be 13295
%)
it was almost a trick question from your teacher.
let me make it easier for you to understand----
what is the difference between 10 and 5 as a percent?
common denominator first ..
so 10/10 = 1 and 5/10 = 0.5 therefore 1-0.5 = 0.5, then times by a hundred and you have 50%
is one a % of the other?
